I think it’s harder, no? Having both movement and player direction linked seems like a huge limitation. You can’t even run away while throwing behind yourself.

What if you didn’t have access to a phone but you had a laptop but for some reason the keyboard is damaged and you can only use the mouse? What if you only had one hand and still wanted to play the game?
Point is, people are gonna play how they want. Whether by necessity or want, people will play suboptimally. You may see it as dumb or inefficient, but I see it as a great accomplishment that someone is at least somewhat competitive stats-wise using a horrible method.
I started playing mouse only in 6th grade when my keyboard on my school laptop was damaged (I was missing all of the wasd keycaps except D) and got used to it
